Over a year since Israel renewed its onslaught on the people of Gaza in full force and the crisis is still growing, with conflict spilling over into neighbouring Lebanon in recent months. Out of a total population of 2.2 million, an estimated 1.9 million people have been displaced within Palestine, and a further 1.2 million within Lebanon. Against this horrific backdrop, SJT Studio have organised a print sale called Watermelon Editions to raise funds for affected families across the region.
The print sale brings together a collection of international artists, featuring acclaimed image-makers including Gabriel Moses, Arnaud Lajeunie, Jet Swan, and Carlijn Jacobs, who have all donated images to the print sale. These photographs range from intimate black and white portraits such as Julie Greve’s “Tine and Sonje” (2018), to a Polaroid by iconic artist, designer and Madonna-collaborator, Maripol.
Launched today, each 8 x 10” print are being sold for £80, with all funds split between the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund and Medical Aid for Palestinians – two charities which are both heavily involved in the affected regions. The prints will be printed to order, with support from IMAGINE and Jolly Collective.
All prints can be purchased here. Take a look at the gallery above for a preview of the selection.
