A majority of the giant sculptures – styled simply with white ankle boots and glued-down coloured hair that took a shape similar to Kawakubo’s signature style – were topped off with lopsided tan or white fur top hats, sheer headpieces stuffed with even more fabric, or fuzzy, tubular scarves draped around the neck. So, what exactly were they? Bacteria? Sea creatures? Vaginas? Stacks of bedding? With the creative director’s usual ultra-brief show notes, the sculptural shapes were left up to our own interpretations.
