Fashion and food have long been intertwined – from Loewe’s cracked-egg heels to Jeremy Scott’s McDonald’s french fry bags at Moschino, Chloé’s leather pineapple bags, and of course, the Fendi baguette. For SS26, however, it seems that Junya Watanabe was looking less towards the dinner menu and more towards the tools crammed within our kitchen cabinets and drawers. Exploring numerous iterations of black gowns, the Japanese designer showed versions made out of stockings stretched tight around hoards of wine glasses and poking with gold forks – as well as a silver mini-dress with shoulders stacked with rows of silver spoons.
