With Nina Simone’s haunting “Wild Is The Wind” spilling from the speakers, a regiment in moss-green army jackets and billowing slacks hit the catwalk, but with vivid fabrics and flowers covering their helmets, a spiritual sequel to AW16’s Armor of Peace show. On one hand, you’d like to think this CDG squadron had gone AWOL, shouted “to hell with war” and swaddled themselves in petals and silks. More likely, however, is that the flowers were funereal, a sort of pre-eulogisation to show these living, breathing boys were in fact dead men walking.
