Vaquera SS25

In keeping with its DIY aesthetic, New York brand Vaquera staged its Paris Fashion Week show in a concrete bunker, soundtracked by industrial bleeps and blorps. But for the tenth anniversary of the brand, designers Bryn Taubensee and Patric DiCaprio wanted to draw a line in the sand, one that separated them from their underground beginnings. “Vaquera was started ten years ago as an exercise in subversion. Vaquera designs over the years have at times been extremes of ideas, a rebuttal of the system they were looking to engage with,” said the show notes. “With an established DNA and lens, the focus has shifted to wearability and the idea of ‘New Basics’.” Though it might be the case that Vaquera’s idea of “basic” is a bit different to yours and mine.
