But rather than give us cliches like flappers and finger waves, Davis’s collection was a novel take, reconfigured for the modern woman’s wardrobe. Feathers came bunched on footwear or hung from clutch bags, while long sleeve frocks were made of large sequin scales. Fringe also appeared, strung from minidresses or peeking out of the bottom of overcoats, like a speakeasy patron concealing themselves from the law.
