Because of these sartorial restrictions, it’s often down to individual celebs and stylists to find the devil in the detail, opting for small twists on those classics to set them apart. Gillian Anderson decided it’s best to stick with what you know, donning a Gabriela Hearst gown covered in embroidered vaginas; one turn and you’d see that Greta Lee’s pleated Loewe frock came with a huge knot in the back, as if she’d tied some bedsheets together to escape from a top floor flat. And not to be outdone, Dua Lipa and Natasha Lyonne both rose to the occasion in Daniel Rosberry’s eccentric Schiapparelli creations.
