A pair of lace-up briefs, a handkerchief mini, perhaps a transparent halter neck, and a shrunken babydoll dress – this season, Ludovic de Saint Sernin did what Ludovic de Saint Sernin has always done, pulling on his fascination with 00s media sensations and plonking them on a Paris runway flanked by a harem of FROWers in plunging necklines and muscle vests. Titled Private Show, this collection was the designer’s attempt at inspiring a new generation with the same kind of obsessions that once drew him to high fashion: babetastic models with an attitude, Project Runway, Fashion TV, and America’s Next Top Model.
