The collection could be read as a comment on the fashion industry’s corrosive labour practices, with the idea for “Ajuka” drawing heavily on the work of Scottish playwright John Byrne, who’s known for creating his own imaginative worlds where class struggles are magnified. His paintings – and all their creepy, caricatured faces – are emblazoned across suits, scarves, and bubble-hemmed skirts.
