Building on from his men’s collection back in June, this season’s womenswear proposal was inspired by Owens’ relationship with Egypt: a place he returns to both IRL and via silent movies starring Theda Bara, “AN EXOTIC ANCIENT FEMME FATALE”. So, 45 couture-like creations emerged from a plume of smoke at the Palais de Tokyo, exaggerating and distorting the body in freakish accents. Bell-shaped jackets exploded into 200 metres of tulle – collected from landfills and oceans – while translucent leather gowns came with rubbery trains. Ruched cocktail dresses in hot pinks and acid yellows gave the collection an air of insouciance, off-set by chromatic show-stoppers which had bunched-up at the waist and shoulders in grotesquely glamorous lumps and bumps.
