A fashion lover’s fashion brand, Vaquera doesn’t steal from other designers, it merely writes fanfiction. So when a conical bra and sailor hat emerged on the brand’s SS23 runway, it wasn’t some sort of Jean Paul Gaultier rip-off but a voyage down the rabbit hole. Or rather, a stomp down the rabbit hole, with every model threatening to put a foot through DSM’s floor as they charged through one of those derelict, paint-stripped spaces so beloved of young, anti-establishment designers. Set to a speed metal soundtrack, Patric DiCaprio and Bryn Taubensee’s latest collection paid homage to notions of home, Paris, and, of course, fashion.
