It was all a bit PC World, which is a good thing. Prints of sandy beaches, burning sunsets, and cliché dolphins were all inspired by Windows 95 screensavers, sourced on Shutterstock. Much has been made of the designer’s lean into bizzaro fashion since he emerged from the pandemic – but collections like these are perhaps more silly than surrealist. Knitted jumpers came topsy-turvy with XL coat hangers hooked over heads, the high-necks on grey marl vests were actually denim waistbands, and a tribute t-shirt to the Queen was a replica of the posters which have gone up on bus stops around London. That particular item was certainly the most on the nose reference that designers have made to Her Majesty’s passing – but on a call with the BFC, it was apparently Anderson who urged the city’s designers to keep calm and carry on.
