Grace Wales Bonner: “I was introduced to Germaine Acogny’s work through a friend of mine who’s a dancer and (who) did this residency in Tambacounda, Senegal. I’m interested in how Germaine describes movement in her book. There are different elements to it, where there’s quite a specific notation or framework to rhythm. I’m just really interested in her practice and how it connects to a kind of lineage that’s fully embodied and passed down physically.”
