CHRISTIAN DIOR COUTURE SS04 Christian Dior’s SS04 couture show was a gilded fantasy inspired by John Galliano’s travels around Egypt. Enhancing the couture designs was exaggerated Cleopatra-esque and Tutankhamun-inspired make-up from Pat – Pharaohs reimagined as drag queens. Think gold or blue glitter covering models’ eyelids, extending right up to bold, black brows. Lashes were XXL in matching gold, as were the lips, while jewelled accessories adorned the ears, hair and sometimes chins or undereyes of the models. The result was a playfully exaggerated fantasy of ancient beauty. Speaking of the make-up for the show, Pat said “One of those looks with the chainmail under the eyes took about 12 hours to build. It was really funny when the look was accepted, because I was like, ‘Ah, I’m so happy!' And then I was like, 'How am I going to do 10 of those in three hours?’ I didn’t do the math and the panic set in."
