As Huseby and Işik started to consider the last ten years of their brand, the act of reminiscing led them to journey even further into the past. “As we began looking back at what sparked us to found GmbH a decade ago – and revisiting our own story – we came across the largely untold fashion history of Berlin,” they said in collection notes handed out at the show. Berlin’s forgotten couture history – one that rivalled Milan and Paris in the 1920s – was the source of inspiration for this season’s show, with models arriving to the catwalk in embellished evening gowns and tailored coats with large looped collars.
