Titled El Dorado, the show was named after the Weimar-era Berlin nightclub, known for its liberal attitudes towards gender and sexuality. Ives has been consistently outspoken about his support for trans rights, even raising more than half a million dollars for Trans Lifeline with his viral Protect The Dolls t-shirt. Similarly to his previous shows, the casting was made up mostly of trans women, including an epic finale starring Pose’s Dominique Jackson, who floated down the catwalk in an ivory bridal gown.
