During Yohji Yamamoto’s AW18 fashion show, he sent a series of leather corsets down the runway in tribute to the late “king of cling”, Azzedine Alaïa, who had died several months earlier. “As soon as I heard he had passed away,” Yamamoto said backstage, “suddenly this theme came to me.” Yesterday (Oct 3), he paid tribute to another late, great fashion designer: Giorgio Armani, who sadly passed away on September 4, weeks before his own 50th anniversary show which took place in Milan last week.
