“The idea for the collection was to journey back from the ongoing sixth extinction,” the designer clarified after the show. The catwalk itself was held inside one of the library’s cavernous reading rooms, and guests sat on wooden chairs with teal leather seats while the sapphire lighting “mimicked underwater submarine lights.” Models appeared in Carzana’s otherworldly creations, first enmeshed in bundles of muted organic cottons, before the colour palette expanded to include vivid pinks, purples, blues and yellow. “To me, the collection illustrates the magnificence of the earth,” said Carazana. “Every colour, mordant, fabric, thread and button is created from our earth, and I believe that to be very powerful.”
