Taking place at 180 Maiden Lane – a skyscraper in New York’s financial district – models entered the runway in plumed headdresses, feather-strewn jackets and velvet coats. A standout were the beauty looks, with exuberant lashes and feathered talons paying tribute to “the grotesque beauty of diablos cojuelos,” a mischievous carnival figure that symbolises the rebellion of the Dominican people.
