For AW25, Carzana had been thinking about the beauty and power of dragons, and also the community of butchers at Smithfield Market, where his studio is located – hence the name Dragons Unwinged at the Butchers Block. For the designer, dragons acted as an allegory for LGBT rights, and “if we have our wings taken away from us, we cannot be ourselves.” In this way, both celebration and melancholy seemed to be cornerstones of the collection, which was especially apparent when a tearful Carzana emerged to give his final bow.
