Some space was also reserved, of course, for the designer’s namesake noir. Black bodices, deconstructed formalwear, and sharp tailoring with safety pin details proved the more traditional side of the collection, with more experimental elements including a snakelike, sculptural construction suspended from a spiralled cowl and paired with velvety black quilting. Elsewhere, metal-studded leather flowers mirrored the stained glass florals of the penultimate look, followed by a hooded gown made up of a whole Murakami-style meadow, bringing a splash of colour back to round out the show. By which point the narrator had completely given up.
