“Who ever cares about what models are thinking when they perform?” asked Sunnei founders Simone Rizzo and Loris Messina at the opening of the label’s AW24 show, which was hosted in the showspace of a Milanese rug company. Then, they proceeded to answer that question (kind of). “This season we’re giving a stage to their mental spaces,” the designers said, “just to create a new layer of madness.” In essence, this meant swapping out a traditional soundtrack for 30 inner monologues – one for each model – as they strutted down the runway, AKA a stripy, 72-square-metre carpet, unrolled after the audience took their seats.
