Though Appiolaza’s approach was more pared back and wearable than his predecessor Jeremy Scott, it didn’t come without its fair share of theatrics. Hats were stacked in vertiginous piles and paper planes were caught in hair; newspapers were folded onto models’ heads and bags made to look like fresh baguettes. And though the show notes hinted this was just “a taste of what is to come,” the collection was still an impressive debut for such a lightning-fast turnaround.
