A designer whose practice stems from sustainability, Ives stretched the idea of turning one man’s trash into treasure to new extremes, with embroidery made using rogue safety pins, collected from eBay sales and the studio floor, and jersey pieces upcycled from deadstock military surplus. A standout of the show, a silk bubble dress, was made from a Qing Dynasty wall tapestry, while the white organza gown that closed the show was hand-embroidered with discarded Apple headphone cables sourced from an electronics factory.
