Rei Kawakubo has an unusual, near-psychic talent for absorbing the woes of the world and refracting them back to us in perception-bending designs. This season, it seemed as though the designer was concerned with the perils of the ocean – the strange Orca attacks, the poetic tragedy of the Titanic submarine – and so she stuck whale and shark figurines into vertiginous, oil-slicked wigs.
