Botter and Herrebrugh – who have an almost-two-year-old daughter together named Scully – further evoked the notion of a mysterious past with a spate of childlike references. The Frankensteined Barbies (part dinosaur-part doll) were created by the Belgian artist Daniel von Weinberger and a series of springy, waterproof knits were developed from upcycled Scooby Doo yarns. The prints, meanwhile, which figured on spaghetti-strapped dresses and stiff overcoats, were borrowed from an ascendant Haitian artist, whose work is impregnated with witchcraft and animist deities.
