Blumarine SS23 womenswear

Bathed in an aquamarine light, this season’s Blumarine models looked as though they had been dredged up, tail-first, from some kind of lagoon. They wound through a set scattered with shells and sandy hillocks, trailing hair extensions matted with sea salt, face flecked with glitter to give the appearance of water droplets. Nicola Brognano’s no-thoughts-just-vibes approach to design took on a slightly darker accent this season, emerging on the runway like a gothic retelling of The Little Mermaid – all sea-shell bralettes, scalloped mini-skirts, and low-rise jeans, cargo pants, and denim skirts which had blown open at the hems, cascading behind models in undulating waterfalls.
