Back in June, artist Tremaine Emory shared an image of a pair of Converse sneakers he’d been designing, inspired by the colours of Marcus Garvey’s Pan-African flag and David Hammons’ flag artworks. He said he wouldn’t be releasing the shoes until parent company Nike did more to pledge longterm support for anti-racist initiatives, and now, he’s announced an update. In an interview with the LA Times, Emory said he’s had many conversations with executives about change across all aspects of the company and that “the shoes are coming out in October with all the marketing dollars devoted to getting people to vote especially in the swing states.”
