Thousands of Buddhist devotees gathered at the Wat Bang Phra Temple in Nakhon Pathom (west of Bangkok) during the annual Tattoo Festival, some of the participants go into a trance-like state where they are 'possessed' by the spirit of an animal which is then tattooed onto their skin by monks to protect against evil spirits and bad luck
