A history of religious tattoos from around the globe

A devotee's tiger tattoo and amulets are seen during the festival. Thousands of Buddhist devotees gathered at the Wat Bang Phra Temple in Nakhon Pathom (west of Bangkok) during the annual Tattoo Festival, some of the participants go into a trance-like state where they are 'possessed' by the spirit of an animal which is then tattooed onto their skin by monks to protect against evil spirits and bad luck
