Uma Thurman in Even Cowgirls Get the Blues
In Gus Van Sant’s offbeat comedy Uma Thurman plays a woman with extraordinarily large thumbs. She’s an expert hitchhiker, obviously. And when she meets a feminine hygiene products mogul in New York she winds up on a “beauty ranch” working with other cowgirls. Let’s face it: with her look down to a T she was born to be a cowgirl. The brown suede jacket with frills on the sleeves; the dusty Texan hat; her permanently dusty complexion, the result of a life spent on the wrong side of the dirt track. This is a look that says: gimme a horse and I’ll ride into the sunset. Two big thumbs up for this early 90s cowgirl.
