Ky Newman is locked in. Or, at least, he’s trying to be. Right now, the producer, filmmaker and Emergency Intercom editor is somewhere around the thousandth edit of a short film he shot last month. “It was funny the first 20 or so times I watched it but now I just see pixels,” he says. “But I’m sure I’ll fall in love with it again once it’s finished.”

His days currently start with an attempt to open Instagram, only to be stopped by the Brick he bought to keep himself off the “evil apps”. When he eventually takes a break from the edit, “I will go for a walk with my platonic friend Tucker around the Silver Lake Reservoir,” he says. “I might even get dinner with some friends after that, but with inflation being so bad, I have been opting out of dinners recently”.

Below, he shares his soundtrack to locking in, with tracks from Alex G and Beverly Glenn-Copeland to Jane Remover, Skrillex and more.
