If you’ve ever so much as opened the TikTok app, you’ll be well aware of its ability to lodge a song firmly in your head. In fact, the catchiness of tracks on the video sharing app has had a direct impact on the music industry. See: sales of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” skyrocketing after Doggface’s video went viral, or the success of TikToker-turned-certified-popstar Bella Poarch, who blew up bobbing her head to “M to the B”.
It kind of makes sense, then, that TikTok itself has now launched its very own radio channel via SiriusXM, designed to sound like “a radio version of the platform’s ‘For You’ feed”.
Simply titled TikTok Radio, the music channel is hosted by a range of TikTok creators, DJs, and artists, who will present music and share the stories behind various trends. Presenters include TikTokers Billy (@8illy), Cat Haley (@itscathaley), Hindz (@hindzsight), Lamar Dawson (@dirrtykingofpop), and Taylor Cassidy (@taylorcassidyj).
Alongside regular programming, TikTok Radio also features takeovers from artists and creators including Lil Nas X, Ashnikko, Dixie D’Amelio, Normani, Ed Sheeran, Bella Poarch, and more.
“Our groundbreaking new channel with TikTok is a first-of-its-kind, capturing the pulse of the global music culture, vibrancy and vitality found on the entertaining social platform,” says Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer at SiriusXM.
“The creators, who are also presenting the music on TikTok Radio, are deeply involved in the channel and will reflect the unique sound and personality of TikTok that is so enmeshed with today’s music culture and community.”
