‘When we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at... but recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning’
Billie Eilish is back with a new single and music video, “my future”.
Written and recorded in Los Angeles at the start of lockdown, and produced, as usual, by her brother FINNEAS, “my future” is described by Eilish as “really really personal and special to me”.
“When we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at – hopeful, excited, and a craaaazy amount of self-reflection and self-growth,” Eilish wrote in an email to fans. “But recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning in the context of what’s happening in the world now. I hope you can all find meaning in it for yourselves.”
In its music video, Eilish gets animated by Australian artist Andrew Onorato, where she wanders through the woods.
“my future” follows Eilish’s Grammy-winning 2019 debut album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? and this year’s follow-up singles, “everything i wanted” and “No Time to Die”, the official song of the next James Bond film.
