New Music Friday: 9 albums to hear this week

Stream new albums by Sega Bodega, Tame Impala, Moses Boyd, and more

Over the last few years, Scottish producer Sega Bodega has made a name as one of the most distinctive producers in the UK. His early releases were instrumental electronic beats defined by unusual rhythms and a glossy production sheen, but more recently his attention has been focused on a particular strain of futuristic pop, with Sega producing a number of bangers on his NUXXE label with Shygirl, Oklou, and Brooke Candy, as well as his own solo releases. Debut album Salvador (which takes its title from Sega Bodega’s real name, Salvador Navarrette) is a full realisation of those ideas. Sega provides the album’s pristine production, melodic songwriting, sung and whispered vocals, and slightly emo lyrics, crafting a series of 4K pop belters that deserve to be heard at music festivals this summer – or at least heard on a few viral TikTok videos.

This week has also seen new records from London musician Moses Boyd, Maryland’s MHYSA, a little Australian band called Tame Impala, and more. Take a listen below.
