‘Girl, you have done it again’
Beyoncé’s new Netflix documentary, Homecoming, was highly anticipated after a trailer released in early April, and on Wednesday (April 17) the film officially dropped. It mostly features the singer’s iconic set from Coachella 2018 – #Beychella, as it’s been rechristened – with behind-the-scenes footage of the preparation.
As you can imagine, the doc has been inspiring and exciting fans (and how could it not?).
But there’s one particularly notable fan that has celebrated Beyoncé’s brilliance in a video posted to Twitter: yes, Michelle Obama. A former First Lady of the United States congratulating one of the biggest stars of a generation: it doesn’t get much more high-profile than that. Although, it’s not the first time Obama has made her fandom clear, since she and Barack Obama turned up at a Beyoncé concert back in 2018.
“Hey, Queen!” Obama begins her address, before going on to praise Beyoncé for her achievements. She also expresses her love for Homecoming as a film that celebrates black voices, calling it “both a celebration and a call to action”.
