Australian rapper swims out to sea to avoid restaurant bill

‘2pec’ racked up a total of $621 on seafood at an award-winning restaurant before jumping into the ocean to make his getaway

An Australian rapper racked up a $621 bill at a Gold Coast restaurant before jumping into the sea to avoid paying.

Terry Peck – who performs under the name ‘2pec’ – reportedly worked his way through two lobsters, a baby octopus, 21 vodka oyster shots and “a number of Coronas” before opting to make his daring escape from Omeros Bros restaurant.

After refusing to pay, he is alleged to have ran out the door and down the street before making his way to the ocean, despite the amount of food he’d just put away. Police officers followed in hot pursuit on jet skis, eventually retrieving the 33-year-old from the surf.

The rapper, who was on parole for an unrelated offence, was charged with one count of stealing and two counts of serious assault. He later claimed that he had left the restaurant because he needed to help a friend give birth on the beach – and that the lobsters were overcooked.

Magistrate Joan White granted Peck bail, despite her surprise at the size of the meal. “My God! By himself?” she replied, when informed that the bill exceeded $600.

2pec, who boasts 19 followers on SoundCloud, is the artist behind tracks “Ozi Ozi Ozi Oy Oy Oy” and “Rap Attack 1”. His bio on the platform reads: “I'm str8 up FKN AWESOME!!!! LOL YEEEEE HAAAAAA!!!!!”

Mark Hunnybun, a representative from Omeros Bros, disputed 2pec’s criticism of the food, telling ABC News: "We pride ourselves on cooking our lobsters perfectly.”
