Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift donate to Louisiana flood fund

The natural disaster has destroyed 40,000 homes and businesses

This week, unprecedented floods hit the US state of Louisiana; killing 10 people and displacing thousands of families. In response, both Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift have now donated funds to the flood relief efforts.

Speaking to Associated Press about her reported $1 million donation, Swift said Louisiana fans made her feel “completely at home” during her last tour. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking,” she added.

Nearly 40,000 homes have already been destroyed and it is estimated that it will cost at least $30 million to rectify the devastation of one of the worst natural disasters since Hurricane Katrina. Swift encouraged people to send their “love and prayers” to all those suffering during this “devastating time”.

Lady Gaga took to Twitter to announce that she will also be adding to the flood funds. Although she didn’t specify an exact amount she did include that her “thoughts and prayers” are with Louisiana.
