Mika Miko Recommend

Power punks Mika Miko give us their recommendations.

Can you recommend...
... three new bands?
1) The Goat, an all pro-skater band.  Listen to "Ooh Your Weird".
2) Residual Echos. Because Adam shreds and it sounds like the Meat Puppets
3) Spider. Erin from the Spits and his life partner Jessie have made a very good record available on the Thrift Store Records label. Sounds like Hubble Bubble?  Maybe?

... three old bands?
1) Crass. It's all about being a crust punk in high school and
cockfear, cuntfear, etc.
2) Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers are the best band ever like a motherfucker.
3) Dystopia, this band is pretty much directly responsible for the second bathroom at the Smell.

... a record label?
Post Present Medium. Simply the best label from LA, putting out rad records including our own We Be Xuxa!

... a website? see for yourself

... a film?
Valley Girl. This is where we come from. This is what we were taught in school about local history. It's so good!

... a book?
Ablutions by Patrick deWitt, because it's Jenna's brother's book and it's both great and available in THE United Kingdom.

... something on YouTube?
The grape stomping lady; it's always funny. Even just the sound, or just the picture, or just someone imitating the sound, perfect. And you can learn a lesson about honesty.

... a radio show?
Art Laboe on Hot 92 Jams. Every song is a call in dedication, read by Art in his one-of-a-kind style. "This next one is from Sad Girl dedicated to Droopy in San Quentin, don't let 'em get you down baby. You're in our hearts always and we are waiting for you back at home. Every day brings us closer together. Kisses! MMMWA!"

... something to do on a day off?
Get your hair done! And watch LOST.

... a song everyone should hear?
"Give Me Just a Little More Time" by Chairmen of the Board.

Mika Miko's new album We Be Xuxa is out on Monday.
