“Welcome to the wavy house”, croons East London’s Jammer (aka Jahmek Power) on his new track “Wavy House”. Teaming up with filmmaker Max Shaw to co-direct the music video, the Boy Better Know MC finds himself amongst pink pastels as he sends us floating through a trippy house party that also includes some light bondage.
The track, produced by HeavyTrackerz and Breakbeat, is a laid back jam with a silky-smooth bass line, dreamy 80s synths and a snare so spellbinding it’ll have you hooked before Power spits his first line. Referencing the incarcerated king of the wave, Max B – who has recently been honoured by the lyrics of Kanye West and A$AP Rocky – Jammer raps about his love for his wavy (slang for something good) gang, how nobody can bring him down, and his quest to make a hit like Beethoven. The producer, rapper and organiser of well-known battle-rap competition Lords of the Mics sounds relaxed, almost like he is freestyling – which an insight into his songwriting process might explain. “I just hear the beat and I just say what I’m thinking, and if I don’t like it, I just go back and delete it," he told Converse – who kitted the MC out in their latest baby blue Chuck II Knit sneakers for the video. "I used to write down lyrics, but when I was trying to think of the next thing to say, it was slowing down my creativity." Get swept away in this pastel-hued wave with the full video here.
