Kanye West has unveiled what appears to be mock up of a Rolling Stones magazine cover, which he claims was photographed by Oklahoma rapper and close friend Tyler the Creator. The image, which Kanye tweeted late last night, shows the musician in bleach-dyed denim, with his name in neon pink alongside the caption, “Does he like mustard?”
Rolling Stone has since confirmed that the cover is not official, tweeting: “While we love Kanye, and have many mustard-related questions for him, this is not an actual cover of Rolling Stone.” Kanye then replied, “I bet you this still becomes the cover though...” alongside the hashtag “#trollingstone” before asking his 18.2 million followers whether the image should become a real Rolling Stone cover. At time of publishing, 56% had voted ‘yes’.
Could his recent twitter antics be a means of extra self-promotion? West will release his much-anticipated seventh studio album Waves later this month (11th February), showing up at New York Fashion Week to perform it in full at Madison Square Gardens, just in time for the launch of Yeezy Season 3. After recently claiming that the album was the “best album of all time”, Kanye has since backtracked and said that it is “ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest just one of…” Have a read of the Waves tracklist (which we got a handwriting expert to analyse) here, and vote for yourself on the Rolling Stone cover below:
