The rapper features on a new remix of Yo Gotti’s ‘Down in the DM’ – listen to a preview here
Nicki Minaj is, hands down, the undisputed queen of the guest verse – from her iconic feature on Ciara’s “I’m Out” (“I got a big fat ass, big dicks follow”) to the time she outshone Kanye West on his own track “Monster”, forcing him to admit that she “kicked my ass, on my own album”.
With that in mind, we were stupidly excited to hear that not only was Minaj lending her lyrical talents to a new remix of Yo Gotti’s “Down in the DM”, but that in it she’d be addressing her infamous and much-quoted VMAs feud with pop provocateur Miley Cyrus (a feud that still has us going “Miley, what’s good” whenever the need arises).
The track is out tomorrow, but Minaj’s verse has been revealed in a new teaser clip premiered on The Fader (below), where she can be heard rapping: “I said Miley, wuss good/ I said could you pay my bills like O’Reilly, wuss good?,I just sit back and observe/ All these niggas that I done curved/ If it goes down in your DM then baby boy you lucky/ Cause 99.9 percent of these fuck boys can’t fuck me.”
This isn’t the first time that Minaj has spoken about the feud publically. In an interview with the New York Times Magazine, she explained: “The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects black women makes me feel like you have some big balls…You’re in videos with black men, and you’re bringing out black women on your stages, but you don’t want to know how black women feel about something that’s so important? Come on, you can’t want the good without the bad.”
“If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You shouldn’t not want to know that.”
