Unsurprisingly, West didn’t let the haters get him down, instead claiming their behaviour was an insult to music fans. Stepping up to the Pyramid Stage last night, his performance didn’t quite go as planned either – thanks to someone who appears to be comedian Simon Brodkin, giving ‘Ye a taste of his own stage-crashing medicine (cc Taylor Swift, Beck). Other than the questions raised by the drama, like, ‘Who the hell is Lee Nelson?’, ‘Why hasn’t he learned to respect the artistry?’ and ‘Is that a smudged Kanye-style goatee he’s rocking or a really lazy attempt at blackface?’ the performance also saw West ascend into the heavens in a crane, bring out Bon Iver, declare himself the greatest living rockstar on the planet and sing a line up of thirty of his greatest hits.
