Bloc Weekend Festival

Aphex Twin leads an irrepresible electronic line-up at the Bloc Weekend Festival.

Fast approaching is the Bloc Weekend festival this year and it's to be held in make believe holiday town Butlins. It's due to be swarmed with ravers from around the world. Word has spread fast with only a few chalets left but it’s not just the facilities of the Butlins resort that has been turning heads but it’s the stellar line up of electronic music leaders.

This year they have the honour of securing the almighty Aphex Twin to make his only UK festival appearance of ’09 there. Though this is not the tone for the whole festival where punters will enjoy hard dance styles mixed up with italo disco, electro, dub and funk from the likes of Jamie Liddell, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Afrikaa Bambaataa and Grecoroman Records.

The Miami Vice dress up theme disco extravaganza on the Sunday will be soundtracked by London promoters Cocadisco, Heartbreak and Alexander Robotnik on the decks. In fact the line up is so extensive and inclusive it reads like an encyclopaedia of dance.

Dazed Digital speaks to Keith Tenniswood aka Radioactive Man, Bloc resident about why Bloc is special to him and gives us a sample from his recent remix EP out on Control Tower now.

Dazed Digital: You're also resident at Glade festival, What does it mean to you having an exclusively electronic music festival like Bloc?
Keith Tenniswood: It’s nice to be a resident with so many brilliant artists on the bill... People now come to bloc from all over the planet and I think its probably the best electronic festival in the world too. It’s definitely my highlight of the year gigwise and funwise!

KT: Paul Blackford and the Bass Gun label.

DD: What would be your 3 desert island synths?
KT: A Studio Electronics ATC1 Tone Chameleon, tb303 and A Moog modular

DD: What's your ideal holiday resort or does Butlins have everything you'd want?
