Dazed will be joined by British-Somali professional boxer Ramla Ali as part of the week-long series of events
As part of this year’s Goals House talk series, Dazed will be joined by British-Somali professional boxer Ramla Ali to discuss the UNs Global Goals, the future of sport in a post-pandemic world, the hostile environment for refugees created by the government and media, and what it means to be British in 2020.
If you haven’t heard of Ali, you’ll probably recognise her as one of 15 women hand-picked by Meghan Markle to feature on the cover of British Vogue’s Forces of Change issue last year. The African Zone Featherweight Champion, Ali – who’s managed by Anthony Joshua – is the first Muslim woman to win an English boxing title, and will be competing in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
The week-long series of events will take place across global Soho House venues, with hubs in London, New York, Berlin, and Copenhagen hosting a series of panel discussions alongside virtual events in locations such as Abu Dhabi and Kigali.
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the UN and the 5th anniversary of the Global Goals (the Sustainable Development Goals), this year’s talks will focus on the key themes related to the Global Goals, including diversity and inclusion, sustainability, impact investing, mental health, education, and gender equality.
