Job Title: Post Production Coordinator / Junior Video Editor

Reporting to: Managing Editor


  • You will manage and organise all video assets and be responsible for content deliveries and the NOWNESS CMS. As in-house editor you will create additional video assets, site and social content and support the commissioning team. You will also have the opportunity to edit Nowness commissions (editorial and branded) as required.
  • This role is suited to a motivated, self-directed person who can balance operational and creative responsibilities within a small team


  • Overall responsibility for the CMS, setting up posts, uploading films and stills, troubleshooting any technical errors
  • Overall responsibility for our video hosing platform (Brightcove)—file uploads, transcode settings, metadata tagging
  • Managing all video assets, deliveries etc ensuring a high standard of all content on site
  • Exporting films to appropriate compressions and overseeing transcode settings on our video hosting platform, investigating and correcting any errors
  • Organising internal delivery processes and liaising with team and external suppliers when needed. Updating delivery specs when required
  • Cutting short films from existing materials, teasers, reels and preview clips when needed. Editing in-house editorial commissions and branded films as required for site and social use
  • Designing and adding title cards
  • Designing promotional material when needed (ads, banners, etc)
  • Managing uploads and upkeep of the NOWNESS Vimeo and YouTube Channels – including adding custom thumbnails, editorial descriptions, annotations and subtitles, as well as actively engaging with the community with an aim to growing these channels
  • Organising and managing assets across internal servers, archiving assets and being first point of contact for them
  • Sending films to get subtitled and liaising with subtitling team about delivery dates—uploading subtitles to Brightcove when complete
  • Working closely with the NOWNESS Programmer on film delivery organisation
  • Working closely with NOWNESS Social Media Editor to build campaigns to promote NOWNESS premieres, as well as finding creative ways to re-purpose archive content.


  • Excellent communication skills with proactive problem solving and prioritisation 
  • Ability to plan ahead and work methodically, at the same time as adapting to exceptional circumstances
  • Ability to devise and develop efficient and effective processes to manage varying workloads and time pressures
  • Passion for filmmaking and culture
  • In-depth knowledge of the Nowness archive, brand and output
  • Ability to grow and maintain strong and viable relationships with all collaborators
  • Self-starter with the ability to work proactively under minimal guidance
  • Organised and focused with an attention to detail
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent interpersonal skills—being able to quickly establish effective relationships at all levels (internal and external) with impact and strength
  • Good understanding of how to engage with an online audience
  • Good understanding of current video trends—good knowledge of social formats and specs
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro with some understanding of After Effects, Media Encoder, InDesign and Photoshop
