There were plenty of fun time girls happy in their staple diet of stripy knits at Rykiel
Sonia Rykiel, under the direction of her daughter Nathalie, didn't want to reinvent the wheel with this collection, one that banked on a summer knit in which fun times are to be had by the girls wearing them. There's no need to over-analyse the colour blocking that was worked in a combination of pastel and dulled shades of pink, burnt orange, cinnamon, mustard, pale yellow and peach. There were vague references to the the Far East with hats that hung with chunky tassels and karate belts tied into bows. Prints with abstracted florals and star burst patterns broke up the knits but with a finale that had girls skipping down the catwalk, waving their hands like they just don't care in stripey knits and matching shorts, this was a collection that consolidated their signature with fun in mind and not much else.
