Marc Jacobs’ latest offerings for his Menswear A/W 10 collection has a clear patriotic angle, using the stars and stripes of artist Jasper Johns' work. Featuring recurrent star motifs, the graphics echo Johns' abstract take on the American flag. The aptly named ‘I am a Star’ artwork has been reworked in a variety of materials, from basic cotton and classic shirting to luxurious cashmere. The tees promise to be some of the most coveted items from the collection, injecting the humble wardrobe staple with some serious fashion credentials. The unique graphics also highlight the ongoing collaboration between Marc Jacobs and graphic artist duo M/M Paris. In their multi configurations, the stars give a delicious hand-made vintage feel to the garments, a trademark of the partnership.
