If you’ve never seen a Fellini film, lockdown could be the perfect time to change that. The famed and incredibly flamboyant Italian director was beloved by everyone from Stanley Kubrick through to Martin Scorsese, becoming notorious for glittering, fantasy-fuelled films like Roma and La Dolce Vita – in which the term ‘paparazzi’ was coined, FYI.
Also looking to the Italian auteur as a reference point for her own work is Simone Rocha, who cites him as an inspiration when it comes to her latest Moncler collaboration.
As part of the Italian label’s ongoing Genius project, Rocha’s SS20 offering is made up of semi-opaque vinyl coats with cinched waists, floral, frill-trimmed puffers, trapeze dresses and nylon windbreakers embellished with ruffles, and hoodies and t-shirts finished with crystal embellishments.
As always, the London-based designer and Dazed fave plays with proportion throughout, with pieces engulfing the models who appear in the collection’s accompanying shoot.
With Rocha’s new Moncler collab first debuted in Milan in February, this season also saw Craig Green, JW Anderson, and Rick Owens present their own visions in partnership with Moncler. In case you missed it, Owens’ was a bus.
