It could almost have been a Tim Walker set, the carousel horses set up in the middle of a room in Claridges with candy coloured balloons strewn all around. The toffee apple on each chair was the extra fairground touch that set us up for a collection that bordered on being whimsical but was always grounded by Mulberry's own design DNA. There was tomboyish tailoring, puff sleeve dresses, gathered skirts as well as staples like the leather jacket in soft colours like nude and mushroom. Prints were developed specifically for the fairground theme that used faded photos and illustrations that are definitely cast with Sofia Copola-esque lighting. The bags acted are also washed in dusky and sweet colours as many of the Mulberry styles are given the peony pink treatment and are suitably soft and slouchy to accompany the laid back insouciant clothes.
