Photographing the well-dressed and unimpressed of Paris Menswear

Street photographer Yu Fujiwara gives us a glimpse of the glamour and the grit of Paris at Men’s Fashion Week AW18

Every season when fashion week rolls around, the stylish set descends upon the great cities of the world. The biggest names in fashion present their latest ideas in the form of runway shows, while the best-dressed industry insiders queue up outside, waiting to be snapped (willingly or otherwise) by the photographers that line the streets.

Yu Fujiwara, who has been documenting the street style exhibited during fashion week for us for some time, recently trained his lens on the assembled crowds at the AW18 menswear shows in Paris. Always able to see beyond the celebrity and the posturing, Fujiwara’s latest set of photographs show the grey, rainy streets of the capital lit up by the colourful characters that call it home (even if just for the week). As always, the landscape and the environment of the city play as much a part of the images as those he set out to document.

Furry Gucci loafers, Triple S sneakers and pieces from the Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration all have their place, but are slotted in amongst the metropolitan reality of construction sites, litter, spilt beer, and discount hair salons.
